While the NBGTA administers Bendoc Cemetery and Natural Burial Ground, it also has a broader national agenda for the establishment of restoration burial grounds.
Recently NBGTA secured 7 hectares of land and approvals to establish a restoration natural burial ground near Goolwa, south of Adelaide in South Australia. Much of the infrastructure planned for the Old Goolwa site will be modelled on the designs and systems developed at Bendoc.
NBGTA has partnered with South Australia’s leading conservation organisation, Nature Foundation, who manage more than 500,000 hectares of conservation land. Over the past 47 years, Nature Foundation has been investing in, conserving, restoring and protecting the Australian landscape and our flora and fauna. Their commitment to facilitate restoration and provide ongoing stewardship of the burial ground land assures an environmental project of the highest practical and scientific integrity.
Together, we can realise a vision to see this parcel of land returned to a natural bush setting with local native species attracting and preserving wildlife, at the same time, providing an opportunity for families to discover meaning by connecting the death of an individual with the restoration of environmental life.
