In 2020 the Bendoc Cemetery Trust appointed the Natural Burial Ground Trust of Australia (NBGTA)  as the manager of the Bendoc cemetery. The NBGTA is part of a group of social and environmental charities working together to facilitate and promote sustainable funeral and end-of-life practices.

Under NBGTA’s management, the Bendoc Cemetery Trust has received a number of grants to facilitate essential infrastructure works. These works include a resurvey of original boundaries, digital mapping, installation of internal datum markers for centimetre accurate grave location, and development of a substantial area of the cemetery as a model restoration natural burial ground.

The cemetery is rarely used, and due to its remote location (and low immediate population) the number of burials at Bendoc is likely to remain low.

Nonetheless, as a model natural burial ground, the historic Bendoc cemetery has become the prototype for the development of a network of restoration natural burial grounds in Australia.
