When the Bendoc Cemetery was re-surveyed and digitally mapped, known existing burials were identified and recorded. The area where these burials were located was extended as a ‘conventional’ burial area where simple memorials (natural rocks with identification) are permitted. The remainder of the developed area has been laid out as a Natural Burial Ground dedicated to sustainable burial practices. Headstones are not permitted in this area, however, burial sites can always be located using a set of permanent location markers set around the cemetery area.
